How did you come up with your start-up idea?

As a musician myself, I got inspired by one of my favorite musicians to get into live looping – music technique for recording and playing back in real time. Not long after I started researching into this technique, I came to realize there was not much information available on how and where to begin.

Further along into the process of building my setup, I started encountering all sorts of limitations: For this reason, I started designing my own software that could meet all of my needs and beyond. During the development process, I realized that there are a lot of musicians who experienced the same problems as I did. Altogether, I became aware of the potential of my software and it became clear this is a product that must enter the music market.

What is your company’s unique proposition?

LiveLoop is offering a high quality product for professional and beginner musicians, with an intuitive and easy-to-use platform for an affordable prize. We believe in LiveLoop as an experience which users will enjoy due to the software’s versatility and extra features allowing unlimited possibilities of music creation.

Our software saves users time, money and energy. It brings musicians closer to successful live performances by reducing the number of technical steps required to perform, by improving the control of their live looping performances, and by offering the right set of tools to apply and grow their music creativity.

What has been your ACE moment? (or: when did you feel like you really nailed something?)

The Bootcamp week was intense but very productive. We shaped our business model in a week and we felt the potential of the software after the first LiveLoop pitch.

What has the shift from academia to entrepreneurship been like for you?

I worked as a consultant R&D Engineer for almost 7 years, until I decided to make my dream come true and continue my career in music. Altogether, I now feel I have a very solid foundation of knowledge and experience which I can combine into achieving my vision and ideas both in music and in business. Furthermore, I am confident about developing my entrepreneurial skills and business knowledge during the ACE program.

What is the best advice you could give someone who wants to start their own business?

I would say, take your passion and work on yourself until you hit a limitation and then, develop your solution. And remember: “Nobody said that it would be easy”, “Focus and never stop believing in your dream”.

What are your next steps for the coming months/half year?

The software is almost ready to launch. We are now working on setting up the tools necessary to provide the best service. More exactly, in the coming months we will focus on setting up the right software protection, payment service providers, sales, customers development, finances, registering the company, marketing, etc. We hope to release LiveLoop in September.
